Your pitches paid off and you landed a media hit, congrats! Whether it’s a juicy quote in a local or industry publication, a podcast interview, or a full-blown feature article, getting press is a big deal. And it’s just getting started, being featured isn’t the end game. It’s what you do with your PR wins that makes all the difference.
I’ve seen so many small business owners work hard to get press, only to post it once and move on. Don’t do that! Visibility doesn’t just happen, it’s something you build and maintain. You have to toot your horn!
Here are some tips for squeezing every drop of juice from that beautiful press mention. Let’s make sure your audience actually sees it (and sees it again… and again).
Share it to Social (Then Share it Again—Strategically)
First stop: your social media. But don’t just toss up a link and call it a day.
- Create multiple posts highlighting different angles. The behind-the-scenes story of how you landed the interview? A killer quote from the article? Some additional thoughts you’ve had since the interview? Perfect.
- Use different formats: screenshot the article for Instagram, link to it on LinkedIn, make a Reel summarizing what you talked about. Share feeds and stories, across platforms.
- Space it out over time. You can—and should—reshare it weeks or even months later with a fresh caption. Think of it like a remix, not a rerun.
Pro tip:
Tag the publication and the writer every time. It’s good manners, boosts reach, and might just build you a lasting media relationship.
Add It to Your Website
Don’t let your media mentions collect digital dust. Feature them:
- On your homepage (“As seen in…” with logos)
- In a dedicated Press or Media page
- Embedded in blog posts or case studies that relate to the topic
And don’t forget to include a clickable link so visitors can read or listen for themselves. These links on your website are great for SEO.
Make Shareable Content
You said smart things in that interview. You’re a thought leader and your audience should know that.
- Turn standout quotes into branded graphics
- Add them as highlights on landing pages
- Use them as captions on social or inspiration for new blog posts
- Ask your audience to comment on your quotes. Do they agree? Anything to add? Get a conversation going!
If a journalist or podcast host thought it was worth quoting, it probably resonates with your audience too.
Build an Audio Library of Podcast Appearances
If you’re a guest on podcasts, start a running list (with links) on your site or Linktree-style page. You can even:
- Turn the audio into short clips for Reels or TikToks
- Add captions and share them on LinkedIn or in emails
- Use the audio in your own podcast or content
Remember, you are the content, you don’t always need to reinvent the wheel.
Put It in Your Newsletter
Your subscribers want to celebrate your wins (and see your credibility stack up). Highlight your media hit in a newsletter:
- Add a “media spotlight” section to your regular emails
- Use your media hit as a story lead-in to connect with the main topic
- Include a call to action like, “Check out the interview” or “See what I said about [topic] in Forbes”
Update Your Email Signature
This is the ultimate low-effort, high-visibility move.
Add a link with something like:
✍️ Recently featured in [Outlet Name]: [Title of the piece]
🎙️ Listen to my latest podcast interview: [Podcast name]
Repurpose, Repurpose, Repurpose
The best media mentions have layers. Think of them as content goldmines.
- Turn the main idea into a mini-series of blog posts
- Host a live session unpacking the topic further
- Share the media outlet’s post to your Stories and highlight it
And if you’re featured in multiple places, you can create a year-end roundup of all your press wins. Not everyone will see every post so you can do this several ways over time.
Turn the Feature Into Social Proof
This one’s a little mindset shift: once you’ve been featured, tell people. Media equals credibility and builds trust.
- Add “As seen in” badges to your sales pages and lead magnets
- Reference your media appearance in pitches, proposals, and webinars
- Include it in your speaker or guest pitch decks
Say Thank You (Publicly)
A quick “thank you” to the editor or podcast host goes a long way. Share your gratitude on social and tag them. It builds goodwill and reminds people of your appearance, all while being a polite human.
Keep It in Rotation
Media mentions don’t expire. You can share a great interview six months later, especially if it’s still relevant or if it’s seasonal. Create a system or content calendar that lets you rotate old features in with new content.
You worked hard to get that visibility, keep it visible. People scroll quickie, they may even think you’ve been featured again!
You Earned That Spotlight, Now Bask in it (or call me)
Getting press is not just about exposure, it’s about leverage. With a little intention and a repurposing mindset, one piece of PR can turn into weeks of content, trust-building, and visibility.
You deserve to be seen. Maximize that visibility! If you want more tips or to chat about how to make the most of your PR hits and strengthen your visibility, book a PR Power Hour and let’s chat!
