Get Your Holiday Content Sorted Now So You Can Enjoy the Holidays Later

A little planning now means less scrambling in December, more consistent content for your business, and more time to actually enjoy the season.

In the PR world, I’ve been knee-deep in holiday content for weeks already. While most people are just starting to think about Halloween, I’m talking about holiday gift guides, seasonal stories, December promotions and year-end content.

It’s part of the job. But it’s also a good reminder that the earlier you start planning your holiday content, the easier the season becomes.

It’s not just about business content. I’m talking about family photos, holiday cards, personal social media posts and all those little things that seem to pile up in November and December.

The holidays are busy enough without adding a last-minute scramble to create content.

Plan Now, Enjoy Later

One of the things I tell my PR clients all the time is that good content doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does benefit from a little planning.

If you run a business, think about what you’ll want to share over the next couple of months and what photography you might need to support the pitches you’re planning. Maybe it’s a holiday message to your customers, a year-end reflection, a seasonal promotion, a gift guide feature or simply some festive photos that keep your social media looking fresh.

You don’t need to have every caption written or every post scheduled today. But having the right images ready to go makes everything easier.

And the same applies personally. Wouldn’t it be nice to have your family holiday photos taken, cards ordered and a few favourite festive pictures ready to share before December even arrives?

One less thing on the to-do list means more time for the good stuff.

One Holiday Photo Shoot, So Much Content

This is exactly why I did a holiday mini shoot with Michelle at Diamonds Edge Photography.

I just got my photos back, and I’m obsessed!

Michelle is a bit of a photographic holiday wizard. Her studio has seven or eight different holiday and seasonal scenes, complete with beautiful backdrops, props, trees, festive walls, cozy lounges and even matching holiday jammies for the kiddos.

What makes this setup so great is the variety.

In one location at A2 Creatives Studio , you can capture professional photos for your business, seasonal lifestyle content, fun holiday shots and even family and pet photos. The different backgrounds mean your photos don’t all look like they were taken on the same day, even though they were!

We spent about half an hour shooting, had a lot of fun and came away with enough content to carry me through the holiday season.

Michelle also has a wonderful way of making the experience feel relaxed and natural. She knows how to capture people’s personalities, and there’s something about the moments she catches between the posed shots.

Whether you’re looking for updated corporate headshots with a seasonal twist, photos with your small team, something fun for your business social media or family photos with the kids (or even your cat!), her studio offers so many options without needing multiple locations or hours of your time.

Quality Photography Is Worth Planning For

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I’m always talking about the value of quality photography for your business.

Strong images can make an enormous difference in how you show up online, how professional your brand looks and how easily you can pitch yourself to the media. Imagery can be the difference between the front page and a sidebar.

When a journalist asks for a photo, you want to have something ready. When you’re invited to contribute to an article, promote an event or announce something exciting, having a library of quality images saves you time and stress.

And not every photo needs to be a formal headshot.

Some of the most useful business images are the ones that show a bit of personality. The candid shots, the relaxed portraits, the photos that make your audience feel like they’re getting to know the person behind the business.

Holiday photography is a great opportunity to do both. Get the professional photos you need, but have some fun with them too.

A Few Ways to Get Your Holiday Content Organized

Before the holiday season gets into full swing, here are a few things worth doing:

  • Book your photography early. Whether it’s business, family or both, get it on the calendar before the holiday rush.
  • Think about what content you’ll need. Holiday greetings, gift guides, seasonal promotions, team photos, personal updates and year-end reflections are all worth considering.
  • Create a folder of ready-to-use images. Having photos organized and easy to find makes posting so much simpler.
  • Draft a few captions ahead of time. You don’t need to schedule everything, but having a few messages ready can take the pressure off.
  • Leave room for spontaneous moments. Not every holiday memory or business update needs to be planned. The point of being organized is to give yourself more freedom, not less.

Give Yourself the Gift of Being Prepared

I love the holidays, but I don’t love the feeling of getting to mid-December and realizing there are a dozen things I meant to do.

For business owners especially, the end of the year can be a lot. You’re wrapping up projects, connecting with clients, planning for the new year and trying to make time for all the personal celebrations that come with the season.

Getting your content sorted early is one small way to make things feel more manageable.

And if you can spend 30 minutes in a beautiful holiday studio, have some fun, and walk away with months of content and a few photos you’ll genuinely love, even better.

A big thank you to Michelle at Diamonds Edge Photography for such a fun experience. I can’t wait to share these photos!

Book the shoot, organize your content and give yourself more time to actually enjoy the holidays.
